How to verify Google my business
Google My Business is probably one of the best online marketing platforms of our time. Research shows that google local search is the first online retailer and new customer acquisition for many businesses today. Therefore, it does not mean that a verified and customized Google My Business profile is a great competitive advantage for your business.
What is Google My Business?
You may be wondering what Google My Business is and why you should worry about verifying your local business on Google. In short, Google My Business is a free online business listing service. Remember Yelp and Yahoo business updates? Well, those are no longer hot or convenient compared to Google’s updates to Google Businesses.
Having a free business listing on Google My Business means that your business information will appear in local search (local SEO), will be identified as a local business on Google Maps and Google Search and much more. Every time someone does a search on the Google search console in the business category that belongs to you, you will see a glimpse of your business details on Google SERPs and Google Maps.
Verification Methods on Google my Business
Depending on the type of business you are registering for Google My Business, your location, and your business category, you will have one to four verification methods. Some businesses will need to be confirmed by mail, especially if it is a brick and mortar structure. Some may be allowed to verify location information via email, telephone, or immediately use a 5-digit verification code.
All of these options are automatically activated with the Google My Business verification program and enabled on the page. For example, you can only be verified with a postcard if you enable authentication. Don’t worry; not a problem as Google has already set up what they need to make sure you own the said business, have a valid physical / postal address and you can get a postcard with a verification code when they send it to you.
Verify with a postcard on mobile
Google My Business also comes with the Google Business app. You can still use the app to verify your business by following these steps:
Step 1- Launch the Google My Business app
Step 2- Tap the send card button on the home app screen or menu.
Step 3- If you have registered more than one business, you need to select the one you want to verify.
Step 4- Wait for the postcard to arrive and use the app to verify your business by going into business and enter a 5-digit verification code.
Ensuring multiple businesses alone can be difficult. You should instead use the Google bulk verification method that has been discussed over time.
Verify your Google My Business by email on phone
You can verify your business by email using the Google My Business mobile app with the following 4 step process:
Launch the Google My Business app and tap “send email” on the app’s home screen.
Google will use the email address you used to register your business to send a verification email.
Receive a confirmation email and use a 5-digit code to verify your business by tapping “enter code” and sending it to the app.
Bulk verification for chain store owners
This last verification method is only available to account holders with more than a dozen stores registered with Google My Business. You will need to request bulk verification by filling out the bulk verification request form in the dashboard and submitting it to Google for review. You can access the form by going to “Verification” and then a series on the dashboard. From there, you’ll fill in details like business name, account manager emails, and submit.
You will need to upload a spreadsheet with information about your businesses in accordance with Google’s guidelines
